Reykjavik – Part 1

Last April, my sister and I decided to go on a whimsical trip to ICELAND! Iceland air had just started direct flights from Edmonton to Reykjavik, and they were decently priced, so we decided to go, rent a car, and do the ring road of Iceland!

Iceland is a fairytale- everywhere seems so mystical! It is literately the land of elves, trolls and other creatures! I loved it – every place had something AMAZING to see.

We saw and did so much that I decided to break up my Iceland trip into a series – one for each place we went! I’m going to start with our time in Reykjavik! Possibly the best place in the world!

We stayed here for 4 days! Things you MUST DO?!?!?

– TRY SKYR! OMG…. why doesnt Canada have this! It is like a nutrition students heaven!!!!

– Go to Thingvellir national park – My sister and I drove out here (we got lost and cried a little) and spent the day hiking and exploring ! We did the GOLDEN CIRCLE – stopped and hiked at the park (where they used to hold meetings!), went to visit the Geysers! And then we went to Gulfoss! (foss= waterfall, gul= golden ; therefore, it is the golden waterall!)

-Go snorkelling &/or scuba diving at the Silfra Fissure! AMAZING experience!! The water is the most pure in the world because it travels 100km from a glacier through porous rock to the fissure (which separates the north american continent from the european continuent!). This was amazing, you could drink the water freely! And!!!! They film movies there – like NOAH!

-Try their lamb hot dogs (yuuuuuuummmm)!

– BLUE LAGOON! plan to have a day here because it is just sooo freaking amazing!

-Go caving! We went and did some moderate caving (there was some crawling and lying on your stomach involved) I almost had a heart attack but in the end I loved it!

-Explore Reykjavik! there are a lot of cool cafes (Laundromat cafe is awesome!). They also have alot of interesting and fun museums!

-Try traditional Icelandic food! We tried whale and puffin! Trying baby horse was too much for us and we declined! (The waiter tried to flirt with us to get us to try! No thank you!!!!)

I want to go back to Reykjavik more than anything in the world! It is AMAZING! So beautiful! ugh!!!

Prepare for an overload of photos! ❤

Tie Dye Pants

I don’t know what it is with tie dye, but I am always drawn to it! It is just such a fun and carefree look that I feel it is perfect for the spring/summer season! I picked up these pants from the Gap about a year ago and I have been living in them on the more brisk summer days!

Abram and I went for a walk along one of the many beautiful pathways in Edmonton and snapped these photos – I loved the long line of benches! So fun!

I’ve linked some similar pants below! Take a peek!

The Summer of Colours!

Hello all and happy Wednesday! Each summer I try to make a little bucket list of things I would like to accomplish. Last year I did a ton of travelling and so I was unable to finish trying out all the things I wanted to! I thought I would write down my bucket list here so that I could share it with you and hopefully inspire you guys to get out there and do some fun stuff this summer!

I called my bucket list “The Summer of Colours” (I know, I am a bit of a loser for naming my bucket list) because I wanted this summer to be all about having a bright and colourful time!

So… are you ready? Here we go!

1. Do a bit of travelling

2. Upgrade the good ol camera lens

3. Finish designing my ‘.com’ (yes! I am going to be transferring this site to a .com soon!)

4. Redecorate my study/office space

5. Go camping in the beautiful Rocky Mountains!

6. Go berry picking (and then bake with the berries!)

7. Go to heritage days! This is a big festival in Edmonton where different cultures put on shows and cook food! So yum! Go on an empty stomach!

– on a side note – did you know National Geographic named Alberta one of the places to be this summer? Check it out here.

8. Go to a sunflower garden! So pretty!

9. Photo goals this summer? In a canola field! Yaaaas!

10. Work on creating a doable blogging sched! (I feel like this is something I defs need to work on – sorry guys!)

11. Go bike riding! Hell ya!

12. Hit up some cafes and restaurants I have never been to before!

13. Check out the farmers markets around Edmonton and Area (St. Albert has the largest outdoor farmers market in Western Canada – it is awesome!)

Well, this is what I came up with! I think it is pretty doable and I am looking forward to checking some things off my list! If I have anything to add, I’ll be editing this post!

What do you guys want to accomplish this summer? What is on your bucket list? Comment below!

Cuba Cover Up

Hi there ❤ ! On one of our mornings in Cuba, I had time to quickly snap a few photos of my cover up before heading to the beach (to relax all day 🙂 ). They are not the best pictures in the world, but they are quite candid and so I like them.

This cover up is a few years old and is from H&M – Below the photos I have linked some affordable and ADORABLE ASOS Beach Wear that I am currently pining over! Make sure to take a peek!

Any light and breezy dress can be perfect to wear to the beach – and that is why I chose to pack this piece for Cuba! The pattern is playful and a little more bold than I would wear back home in #yeg.

Cafe Bicyclette

Recently my boyfriend and I decided that Fridays are going to be our day to try out some cafes and restaurants around town that we have never been to! Last Friday we decided to hit up Cafe Bicyclette! I had been seeing some other Edmonton bloggers posting instagram photos about this place and it looked interesting, so I had to stop by.

The vibe inside this cafe is super chill – it is very secluded and quiet. Everything is in French and the servers speak in French too! I loved it!

We got coffee and a charcuterie board! I had a mocha and Abram had a cappuccino. We had a lovely time. Next time we go, we want to go a little bit later because they serve happy hour wine 🙂

Next time you are in the Edmonton area I recommend you stopping by! Some days they even have a farmers market! Check out the Cafe Bicyclette website here!

Floral Fun

Hey there beautiful people! I got this dress from Old Navy for a steal! It amazes my how many sales they have – practically a new one every week! They are already a very reasonably priced store, so the sales make it even more tempting. I never really used to shop at Old Navy, but this year their style has got me coming back for more! Since I am a student- I am always looking for a bargain and you definitely will be able to find one here!

I am kind of obsessed with pink & floral (can you tell?) and when I saw this dress on sale it was now or never! This dress is so versatile – I styled it with a tied white button down to make it look a bit more like a skirt. Jean jacket – or not, it is a perfect summer dress – think picnics, walks along the river, and farmers markets!

Enjoy the photos, the outfit (and some alternatives) are linked below!

Easy Breezy

Walking on the beach at sunset is my absolutely favorite thing. I know it is pretty cliche, but I just love it. The sound of the waves crashing and the water color sky is almost too good to be true.

This dress is the perfect easy breezy piece to wear on the beach. I love how it ties at the waist! I have had this dress for a few years and I wear it all the time – I took it to Europe last summer and it was my go-to.

Enjoy the photos below! I linked some similar dresses too, feel free to check them out! ❤

Simple Sweet Treat!

These photos are sooooo old, I think I took them on Valentines day this year! I decided to post them anyways because this past weekend I had fresh berries and some dark chocolate, chocolate chips – so I whipped up this simple sweet treat to fix my sugar tooth! I didn’t even think about taking photos, so I decided to use some of these ones!

Since berry-picking season is upon us, this is the most perfect, easy, after dinner treat! And you only need just a few to satisfy your craving!

All you need is fresh raspberries and some dark chocolate chips! Simply wash the raspberries and place a chocolate chip inside! Instant perfection! And at least you are getting some antioxidants! I usually throw some raspberries in a little bowl and put chocolate chips in 1/4 – 2/3 of them! This is just the right amount – especially since raspberries are good on their own! Remember – everything in moderation!

CRETE

Hello All! Happy Monday, I am wrapping up my blog posts about Greece, so here it goes!

The last place my mother and I stopped on our Greece vacation was Crete! We didn’t really know what to expect from here, but we ended up enjoying it a lot. We stayed in Chania – our hotel was right on the Venetian Harbor. It was beautiful. The view from the roof was magnificent.

Our time in Chania was quite relaxing, we did one big day trip to a Falasarna beach (stunning beach, but huge waves, my ended up getting water in her lungs here and ended up with a lung infection for about 2 months!). That being said, it is still an amazing beach, you just have to be careful when swimming!

We also visited a beach that was a 1/2 hour walk from our hotel – it was fun walking there because we would pass lots of Greek men working on their boats and it was fun watching them hang up the squid and work away!

I loved exploring the old town of Chania. Every corner had something different. The amount of stray cats and dogs astounded me! They were all lazing in the shade for a good portion of the day!

One thing my mom and I really appreciated was the starbucks that was a 5 min walk from our hotel 😉 !

Anyways, here are some of my photos from my time spent in Chania. To wrap up my Greece trip I just want to take a moment to say how amazing and rewarding it can be taking a mother- daughter trip! My mother and I definitely are better friends because of this trip and the memories will last a life time! To any people who have the opportunity to take a trip like this – I encourage it tremendously!! Enjoy the photos ❤

Pink Floral Perfection

This dress has got to be my favorite purchase of the spring season. It has all the things I love – pink, floral, feminine, and classy. It accentuates my waist in all the right places, and is so versatile. I cannot get enough. If I could wear this 24/7, I would.

I picked this dress up from the Gap a while back and have been wearing it nonstop. These photos are from a while back, but due to a lot of hectic scheduling, I’m only posting them now- sorry for the delay. Below, I have linked the dress and some fun alternatives, as well as similar jackets, boots, and purses! I hope you love this dress just as much as I do ❤
